Walking is one of the best ways to kick start your weight-loss journey. It is free, it is low impact, which means it won’t put undue pressure or stress on your joints. Anyone can do it, it’s literally just putting one foot in front of the other!

Of course intensity counts towards how many calories or kilojoules you burn.
You can increase the intensity by simply increasing your pace, pumping your arms and lifting your knees higher with every step. Try adding in a hill or two and as you become fitter you could add some weight such as a weight vest or backpack with a couple of tins of soup.

Walking regularly and consistently with a high intensity can help you lose weight and keep it off. It can also help lower blood pressure, strengthen bones and increase your cardiovascular endurance.

So the next time you have a spare 15 minutes or are feeling bored, grab your walking shoes and head out for a walk around the block, your body will thank you for it ????
